Role Overview: Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research imaging procedures using ionizing radiation. They independently conduct or assist with CT and molecular imaging, ensuring accurate data acquisition for diagnosis and treatment under a licensed practitioner’s guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct patient information, ensure proper identification, and prepare patients for examinations while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and prioritize patient safety following ALARA principles.
- Prepare and administer medications as prescribed, manage radiation exposure, and document activities per regulations.
- Evaluate image quality, verify data storage and transfer, and perform post-processing as needed.
- Educate and supervise students and healthcare providers; assist with interventional procedures.
- Perform prescribed CT procedures accurately, ensuring quality and safety standards.
Work is conducted in a clinical environment. The role requires certification by ARRT or NMTCB, with new graduates needing certification prior to employment. Continuing education and advanced certification may be necessary for career progression.
Qualifications & Skills: Graduate of a Radiologic Technology program, with preferred related bachelor’s degree. Strong knowledge of imaging protocols, patient care, and radiation safety. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with attention to detail and professionalism.
