Clinical Pharmacist – Acute Care

Role Overview: The Pharmacist provides safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy, developing evidence-based care plans focused on patient outcomes and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pharmaceutical care tailored to specific patient care areas.
  • Interpret and clarify physicians’ medication orders, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Review medication profiles for drug sensitivities, interactions, and contraindications.
  • Consult with medical staff on drug therapy issues and monitor laboratory results.
  • Provide drug information to healthcare professionals and discharge medication counseling.
  • Perform calculations for drug dosages, verify orders, and prepare sterile and compounded medications.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians, students, and interns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate workflows, manage resources, and uphold departmental standards.
  • Collaborate with medical and nursing teams to resolve pharmacy-related issues.
  • Assist in updating departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy is required; a Doctoral Degree is preferred. Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, excellent communication, and teamwork skills are essential.

Work Environment: Typically performed in a clinical setting with accountability for compliance with policies and procedures.
