Clinical Pharmacist

Role Overview

This PRN Clinical Pharmacist supports outpatient infusion services at a hospital’s oncology infusion center, primarily assisting with oncology, non-oncology, and MS infusions. The role involves ensuring safe, timely medication use from order verification to dispensing and documentation, collaborating with nursing, providers, and pharmacy leadership to optimize workflow and enhance patient care. Responsibilities include supervising support staff, evaluating medication orders for appropriateness, managing medication procurement and disposal, and contributing to process improvements to increase efficiency and safety. The pharmacist acts as a medication therapy resource, provides staff training, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy required; Doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience; supervision experience is not required.
  • Licenses include MO Medication Therapy Services and RPh certification.
  • Strong knowledge of medication management, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a healthcare team and provide education to staff and patients.

Key Duties

  • Manage medication workflows, supervise technicians and support personnel.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and committees.
  • Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness and optimize therapy outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve medication safety and process efficiency.
  • Contribute to staff education and support operational readiness for infusion services.
