Role Overview: A Certified Peer Specialist works with youth in community-based programs, utilizing lived recovery experience to provide support, foster hope, and promote self-direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer one-on-one, strength-based support to help youth achieve recovery goals.
- Share recovery knowledge and lived experience to empower youth in setting meaningful objectives.
- Assist in crisis planning and develop strategies for crisis management.
- Connect youth and families to community resources and natural support systems.
- Build collaborative relationships with families, providers, and team members.
- Complete documentation and ensure compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Participate in professional development, team meetings, and training sessions.
- Fulfill mandated reporting responsibilities and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- Valid Wisconsin Peer Specialist Certification.
- Minimum of one year community-based experience.
- Strong cultural competency, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, excellent documentation skills, and highly organized.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and pass background checks.
