Role Overview: Provides direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient setting, working as part of a healthcare team under provider supervision.
Key Responsibilities: Obtain and document patient information, prepare examination rooms, assist with procedures, perform EKGs, wound dressings, and support minor surgical procedures.
Administer medications and complete tests per provider orders after demonstrating competency.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform phlebotomy, and support laboratory functions.
Handle administrative tasks including patient scheduling, documentation, referrals, billing, and patient communication.
Support infection control, sterilization, and equipment maintenance, and assist with inventory management.
Contribute to patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills: High School Diploma or GED required; graduation from a medical assistant program preferred. Certification as CMA or RMA is required, with certification from recognized associations.
Strong clinical skills, ability to perform technical duties, excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills are essential.
Work Environment: Typically performed in a clinical setting, may require travel, with adherence to safety and infection protocols.
