Certified Medical Assistant – CMA – Float Pool

Role Overview: Provides direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient setting, working as part of a healthcare team under provider supervision.


Responsibilities include:

  • Obtaining and documenting patient information such as reason for visit, vital signs, medication review, and screening data using electronic medical records.
  • Assisting with patient preparation, performing technical duties like EKGs, wound dressings, phlebotomy, and supporting minor surgical procedures.
  • Preparing and administering medications within policy, collecting lab specimens, and ensuring accurate paperwork.
  • Performing clerical tasks including scheduling, filing reports, processing referrals, and collecting co-payments.
  • Supporting patient education, facilitating communication, and aiding in clinic operations.
  • Maintaining infection control protocols, sterilizing instruments, and inspecting diagnostic equipment.
  • Participating in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required, certified by recognized governing bodies.
  • Strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
  • Ability to follow protocols, support team functions, and ensure patient safety.

Additional Details: The role involves working in a clinical environment, with potential travel and participation in orientation. It emphasizes patient safety, quality care, and effective team collaboration.
