Cardiac Surgical IMC RN provides post-operative care for cardiac and thoracic surgery patients in a fast-paced intermediate care unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor hemodynamic status and telemetry, recognizing and responding to rapid clinical changes.
- Manage chest tubes, drips, and complex wounds.
- Perform thorough, ongoing patient assessments and implement evidence-based interventions.
- Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation.
- Communicate clearly with surgeons, intensivists, and ancillary teams.
- Support quality and safety and deliver patient- and family-centered care.
- Contribute to a collaborative learning culture by mentoring newer staff.
Required Skills
- Strong critical care/IMC nursing assessment and prioritization skills.
- Proficiency with complex postoperative cardiac/thoracic monitoring and therapies.
- Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings.
- Detail-oriented EHR documentation and adherence to evidence-based practice.
