Role Summary: The Pharmacist provides safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy, developing and monitoring evidence-based care plans to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver pharmaceutical care within designated patient care areas, coordinating resources for efficient service.
- Interpret and clarify physicians’ medication orders, review medication profiles for safety, effectiveness, and interactions.
- Advise healthcare professionals on drug therapy issues, lab results, and formulary alternatives.
- Provide patient discharge medication consultations and participate in medical rounds.
- Calculate drug dosages, verify orders, and prepare compounded and sterile medications.
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and interns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to resolve pharmacy-related issues and review departmental policies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy required; Doctoral Degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, medication safety, and laboratory monitoring.
- Excellent communication, supervisory, and collaborative skills.
- Ability to interpret medical orders and perform pharmacokinetic calculations.
Work Environment: Typically performed in a clinical setting, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and standards. Additional department-specific skills may be required.
