Role Overview: A Surgical Technologist supports operating room activities by maintaining a sterile environment, preparing equipment and supplies, assisting with instrument and sponge counts, and ensuring safety protocols. They work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to facilitate efficient procedures, support patient positioning and transport, and assist with specimen handling and emergency responses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain surgical asepsis and prepare OR for procedures
- Assist with instrument, sponge, and sharps counts and equipment safety
- Support patient care activities such as positioning and transport
- Help uphold infection control, environmental safety, and OR readiness
- Support supply management, staff orientation, and use of computerized systems
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; two years of surgical technologist experience
- Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program with certification or in process of obtaining it
- Military surgical technology training acceptable
- BLS certification required (post-hire)
- Effective communication, teamwork, emergency response, and safe judgment skills
