Role: Surgical Technologist responsible for assisting surgeons during procedures, maintaining sterile techniques, and ensuring patient safety.
Key Duties:
- Assist in surgical procedures across all age groups, coordinating treatments and providing patient support.
- Prepare operating rooms by practicing aseptic techniques, setting up instruments, and verifying surgical sites.
- Maintain accurate supply counts, manage specimens, and dispose of sharps and linens properly.
- Monitor wounds, change sterile dressings, and assess patient conditions.
- Participate in safety protocols, emergency responses, and documentation, including billing and specimen handling.
- Act as a preceptor for students, adhere to policies, and perform quality control activities.
- Support admission, discharge, and post-mortem care, and assist with patient transport as needed.
- Engage in on-call rotations requiring prompt response and perform additional duties like set-up for special procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification or exemption as per PA Act 80.
- Graduate of a Specialty Training Program.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical protocols, and patient care.
- Ability to work in a team, follow policies, and respond effectively in emergencies.
