Role Overview: Assists surgical staff during procedures across all age groups, ensuring patient safety, aseptic techniques, and proper handling of specimens and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports surgeons by preparing the operating room, connecting clinical equipment, and maintaining sterile fields.
- Participates in surgical timeouts, site verification, and counts of supplies to ensure safety and accuracy.
- Assists with wound care, dressing changes, specimen identification, and disposal of sharps and linens.
- Performs specimen collection, patient transport, and post-mortem care as needed.
- Maintains documentation, adheres to policies, and participates in quality control activities.
- Acts as a preceptor for students and participates in on-call rotations, emergency procedures, and billing processes.
Qualifications & Skills: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or eligible under applicable laws, with a specialty training program graduate. Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical procedures, and universal precautions. Ability to work in a team, communicate effectively, and handle emergency situations.
Additional Duties: Supports patient admission/discharge, manages supplies, and participates in policy adherence, safety protocols, and continuous learning.
