The staff physician role aims to develop a comprehensive, community-based, family-centered primary care program focused on improving access to high-quality services and health outcomes through prevention, education, and evidence-based chronic disease management.
Responsibilities include creating individualized care plans, emphasizing preventive medicine, practicing non-discriminatory care, immunizing patients, consulting with medical teams and patients’ families, referring cases to specialists, and maintaining accurate documentation. The physician will serve a full patient panel of at least 1,500 active patients, ensure productivity standards, and provide care across various settings, including outpatient, community, and hospital-related services.
The role involves collaborating with staff and administration on strategic plans, participating in quality assurance, and supporting continuous improvement. The physician reports to the Director of Family Medicine, supervises support staff indirectly, and may precept students and mid-level providers. Performance is regularly evaluated based on productivity, clinical skills, patient rapport, and adherence to policies.
Requirements include graduation from an accredited medical school, completion of a family medicine residency, an active South Carolina medical license, and board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine. Candidates should possess strong communication, organizational, and clinical skills, with physical abilities suited for a clinical environment. The work environment involves moderate noise, exposure to blood-borne pathogens, and minimal travel. The position emphasizes integrity, collaboration, and a patient-centered approach.
