Role Overview: The Special Procedure Nurse provides direct patient care and practice management support in a procedural unit, working under the supervision of department leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with pre- and post-procedure assessments, monitoring, and intra-procedural care for specialties such as GYN Surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Oncology, and GI procedures. Support procedural flow by organizing resources and ensuring safety and efficiency. Perform nursing procedures including IV placement, medication administration, wound care, and EKGs. Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure care, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure confidentiality. Monitor patient conditions, communicate data to the care team, and administer medications as ordered. Maintain safety standards, participate in staff education and quality initiatives, and foster collaborative relationships. Assist with oncology care coordination and community resources. Qualifications & Skills: High School Diploma or equivalent, RN license in MA, and BLS certification. 3+ years of relevant medical/surgical or ambulatory nursing experience; ACLS may be required.
