Sonographer PRN

Role Overview: Provides safe, high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging, performing a variety of technical procedures independently. Demonstrates expertise in patient positioning, equipment setup, and image acquisition, ensuring accuracy and adherence to protocols. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff to explain procedures, address concerns, and maintain patient dignity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verifies clinician orders and obtains comprehensive patient history.
  • Ensures proper patient identification, privacy, and comfort during procedures.
  • Responds to emergencies and maintains life support equipment as needed.
  • Assists in training departmental staff and provides patient education.
  • Produces acceptable images, reviews quality, and sends studies to PACS.
  • Maintains equipment, checks calibration, and follows infection control policies.
  • Performs routine department operations, including supply restocking, patient transport, and documentation.
  • Adheres to regulatory standards and hospital policies.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED; Diagnostic Medical Sonography degree preferred.
  • Certification: ARDMS or ARRT-S, BLS required upon hire.
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical ultrasound experience; graduate of an accredited program.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently, handle stressful situations, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Competent in ultrasound techniques, anatomy, pathology, and patient positioning.
