Sonographer PRN

Role Overview: Provides safe, age-appropriate diagnostic ultrasound imaging, performing a variety of procedures independently using established protocols. Sets up equipment, positions patients, and ensures quality images for accurate diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verifies clinician orders, obtains clinical histories, and assesses patient conditions.
  • Ensures proper patient identification, privacy, and comfort during procedures.
  • Explains exams to patients, addressing questions and minimizing anxiety using patient-centered communication.
  • Prepares, operates, and maintains ultrasound equipment, ensuring calibration and infection control standards.
  • Performs quality control checks, reviews images for clinical acceptability, and submits studies to PACS and RIS systems.
  • Restocks supplies, transports patients, and supports departmental operations.
  • Responds to emergency situations, maintains equipment, and follows safety protocols.
  • Participates in training, documentation, and adheres to hospital policies and standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED; Diagnostic Medical Sonography degree preferred.
  • Certifications: ARDMS or ARRT-S, BLS/ARC-BLS required upon hire.
  • At least 1 year of clinical ultrasound experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and ultrasound techniques essential.
