Role Overview: This position involves preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications in a pharmacy setting under supervision. The technician must demonstrate proficiency in medication distribution, including single and bulk dispense, transportation, and handling missing doses, while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy. Responsibilities also include managing Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC), performing minor maintenance, generating reports, and assisting with medication recalls.
Key Duties:
- Accurately prepare medications, including IVs, ointments, creams, and oral solutions.
- Ensure proper loading, monitoring, and troubleshooting of ADC systems.
- Follow aseptic techniques and safety standards for sterile compounding.
- Repackage, barcode medications, and manage controlled substances per regulations.
- Assist with inventory management, medication inspections, and documentation.
- Support training and mentoring of pharmacy technicians.
- Handle customer service interactions and process pharmacy charges.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician (PHT), Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT), or Pharmacist Intern (PHARMINT).
- Licensed with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy.
- Hospital pharmacy experience preferred, with knowledge of automated systems and pharmacy law.
- Basic computer, communication, management, and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to lift at least 30 pounds and push carts of approximately 100 pounds.
