Role Overview: This full-time Respiratory Therapist position involves providing comprehensive patient assessments, developing care plans, and collaborating with the healthcare team. The therapist performs routine and advanced respiratory therapies, manages mechanical ventilators, and monitors patient status using non-invasive tools. They assist with procedures such as fiberoptic bronchoscopy, invasive line placement, and intra-hospital transport of ventilated patients. The role includes patient and family education, discharge planning, and ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings.
- Administer respiratory therapies, including aerosolized medications, oxygen, and airway management.
- Manage mechanical ventilation and monitor patient condition.
- Assist with invasive procedures and patient transport.
- Educate patients and families on disease management.
- Contribute to emergency airway management and blood gas analysis.
- Support discharge planning and equipment needs.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and precept students and new staff.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Respiratory Therapy.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to float between multiple hospital locations.
- Strong communication, clinical, and patient education skills.
