Respiratory Therapist II – Night Shift (Non-NICU)

Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, primarily in critical care settings, demonstrating independent decision-making and protocol management. Responsibilities include medication administration, ventilator management, airway procedures, arterial blood gas analysis, and patient education. The role involves collaboration with healthcare teams, mentoring staff and students, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive patient care with a focus on safety, accuracy, and compassion
  • Perform assessments, verify orders, and administer therapies such as aerosolized medications, oxygen, and medical gases
  • Manage ventilators, interpret waveforms, and perform airway procedures
  • Educate patients, families, peers, and new employees to promote understanding and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with electronic documentation, safety protocols, and quality standards
  • Participate in performance improvement and evidence-based practices
  • Assist in invasive and non-invasive procedures, including diagnostic testing

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program with minimum 20 science hours
  • Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s preferred
  • 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with computer systems and data management
  • Licenses and certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, and ACLS
