Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, including medication administration, ventilator management, and patient assessment, primarily in critical care areas. They perform invasive and non-invasive procedures, interpret diagnostic tests, and educate patients and staff. The role emphasizes independent decision-making, ensuring quality patient outcomes, and fostering a supportive environment for team members and learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive patient care, documentation, and education
- Perform assessments, collaborate on care plans, and verify therapy orders
- Manage ventilators, conduct ABG analysis, and assist with procedures
- Educate patients, mentor new staff, and support staff development
- Promote safe, high-quality care through adherence to protocols and evidence-based practices
- Participate in performance improvement and safety initiatives
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program with at least 20 science credits
- Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s preferred
- 0-2 years clinical experience, with a minimum of 6 months in critical care
- Effective communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
- Proficiency with computer systems and database management
- Licenses & Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, ACLS
