Respiratory Therapist II (Night Shift)

Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, primarily in critical care settings, demonstrating independent decision-making and protocol ventilator management. Responsibilities include medication administration, patient assessment, ventilator management, airway procedures, arterial blood gas analysis, and patient education. The role involves mentoring new staff and students, promoting quality and safe patient care, and participating in performance improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive patient care through assessment, therapy planning, and collaboration with healthcare teams
  • Administer aerosolized medications, manage ventilators, and perform airway procedures
  • Educate patients, families, and staff, including precepting new employees and students
  • Ensure safety through accurate documentation, adherence to protocols, and promotion of evidence-based practices
  • Participate in quality improvement and ensure compliance with policies and standards

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy required; Bachelor’s preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program with science coursework
  • 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist and Respiratory Care Professional certification required
  • Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications required
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills; proficiency with computer systems
