The Respiratory Therapist II plays a vital role in delivering complex respiratory care, primarily in critical care settings.
They are responsible for medication administration, ventilator management, airway procedures, and arterial blood gas analysis, ensuring safe and quality patient care.
The role involves patient assessment, collaboration with healthcare teams, and education of patients, families, and staff.
RT II professionals also participate in staff development, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practices.
Qualifications include an associate’s degree in respiratory therapy from an accredited program, certifications such as NBRC-RRT, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP, with some roles requiring additional licenses.
Minimum clinical experience ranges from 0 to 2 years, with at least 6 months in critical care.
