Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, including medication administration, ventilator management, and patient assessments, primarily in critical care settings. They collaborate with healthcare teams, educate patients and staff, and ensure high-quality, safe patient environments. The role involves independent decision-making, protocol adherence, and participation in performance improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient-centered respiratory care, including aerosolized medications, airway management, and arterial blood gas analysis.
- Perform assessments, collaborate on care plans, and educate patients and staff.
- Promote safety, accurate documentation, and evidence-based practices.
- Support invasive and non-invasive procedures and participate in quality improvement efforts.
- Mentor and precept new employees and students.
- Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with policies and standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program, associate’s degree required, bachelor’s preferred.
- 0-2 years clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems and databases.
- Licensed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal Resuscitation, with instructor and provisional statuses as applicable.
