Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessments primarily in critical care settings. They manage ventilators, perform arterial blood gas analyses, and assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures, ensuring safe and quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional patient care through assessments, therapy planning, and collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Administer aerosolized medications, manage ventilators, and conduct airway management procedures.
- Educate patients, families, and support staff while mentoring new employees and students.
- Promote a safe environment by ensuring accurate documentation, high safety standards, and adherence to performance improvement initiatives.
- Participate in quality improvement efforts and evidence-based practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned, complying with organizational policies and standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program with at least 20 hours of science coursework.
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s preferred.
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with minimum 6 months in critical care.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills.
- Licensed and certified as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, with required life support certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP, with instructor or provisional status as applicable.
