Role Overview:
Provides direct patient respiratory care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, adhering to hospital and departmental guidelines. Demonstrates advanced clinical expertise, serving as a resource within the patient care team, and ensures patient safety through developmentally appropriate care while complying with quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicates effectively with the healthcare team through documentation and handoffs.
- Educates patients, families, students, and staff on respiratory treatments and procedures, utilizing diverse teaching methods.
- Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, applying clinical knowledge to troubleshoot and analyze patient needs.
- Supports advanced clinical functions such as ECMO, mechanical ventilation, bronchoscopies, sleep studies, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation as needed.
- Maintains accountability for ongoing learning, prioritizing duties, and managing time effectively.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Licenses and certifications: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT), Basic Cardiovascular Life Support (BLS).
- No prior experience required, but advanced skills in critical care are desirable.
