Position Overview:
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides a range of therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory procedures, including ABG, PFTs, ventilator support, oxygen therapy, bronchial hygiene, and airway management. They assess and treat both adults and neonates, following departmental policies under indirect supervision.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NRP and PALS within one year of hire
- Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing
- Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
- Minimum of 6 months respiratory care experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen, aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and mechanical ventilation
- Perform and report diagnostic procedures such as ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, PFTs, and EKGs
- Conduct treatment evaluations with physical assessments and patient interviews
- Interpret patient data including CXR, ABG, and PFT results
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain cardiopulmonary equipment
- Participate in infection control, safety, and quality assurance activities
- Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas
- Utilize effective communication to enhance patient satisfaction
- Perform additional duties as required
