Role Overview
Provides specialized respiratory care for critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, and implementation within clinical guidelines. The RT collaborates with a critical care team, working at the top of their licensure, and may participate in specialty support teams such as ECMO, bronchoscopy, or transport.
Key responsibilities include delivering advanced ventilatory support, evaluating patient responses, adjusting therapies, and educating patients and families on respiratory conditions and interventions. The role emphasizes technical expertise, critical thinking, safety, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications & Skills
- Associate degree or CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- 2-5 years of experience in pediatric/neonatal critical care
- Licenses and certifications: RRT, Respiratory Care Practitioner, BLS, NPS
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree and asthma educator certification
Key Duties
- Deliver high-level respiratory care in critical environments
- Evaluate and modify respiratory interventions based on patient response
