Role Overview:
The Float RN provides patient-centered care across over 65 inpatient units in a major academic medical center, supporting staffing needs and promoting quality care. This full-time position involves working a 12-hour day shift, with a differential pay, and includes opportunities for professional growth and continuous learning.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within established standards.
- Educate patients and families on managing illnesses, medications, and post-discharge care.
- Participate in ensuring patient safety, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and communicate individualized care plans collaboratively with the healthcare team and patients.
- Assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, respecting patient preferences and barriers.
- Maintain safety and adapt to various clinical settings, including high-acuity areas for ICU-experienced nurses.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license.
- At least 2 years of recent acute Medical-Surgical nursing experience; ICU or critical care experience preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently across diverse clinical environments.
