Role Overview: The RN Clinical Periop Nurse provides high-quality, safe, patient-centered care in the operating room, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. They ensure individualized care using evidence-based practices, promote teamwork, and support performance improvement initiatives.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—adapting care to patient needs and cultural diversity.
- Partner with patients and families through effective communication and education, keeping patient goals central to care.
- Coordinate and document safe, quality care, fostering respectful, inclusive clinical environments.
- Support performance improvement, research, and evidence-based practices through participation and leadership.
- Serve as a preceptor or mentor to foster a qualified workforce and model professional nursing standards.
- Promote adherence to organizational policies, legal and regulatory standards, including accreditation and safety goals.
- Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum, developing protocols to improve outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of direct patient care nursing experience.
- Associates or Diploma in Nursing; Bachelors preferred.
- RN license (single-state or multi-state compact).
- Current BLS certification; ACLS, PALS preferred.
