Position: Sexual Assault Nurse (Per-Diem)
Location: Emergency Department
Pay Range: $37.25 – $57.74 per hour, based on experience
Role Overview:
- Provides specialized care to adult and adolescent sexual assault survivors, conducting medical forensic exams, assessments, and forensic documentation with compassion and professionalism.
- Works independently to collect forensic specimens, perform head-to-toe nursing assessments, and document findings accurately.
- Collaborates with healthcare teams, law enforcement, survivor advocates, and legal professionals.
- Participates in peer review, adheres to forensic practice standards, and attends courtroom proceedings when necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred.
- Current Illinois RN licensure.
- Certified in AA SANE training through the Illinois Attorney General’s Office or approved certification.
- Experience in forensic nursing preferred.
- Computer literacy, with Epic training post-hire.
Key Duties:
- Perform forensic examinations with knowledge of forensic collection, STIs, medications, and trauma considerations.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards and participate in ongoing education.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and attend legal proceedings as required.
