Role: RN Lactation Consultant responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating lactation education programs. Collaborates with medical staff, nurses, physicians, and maternal-infant clinicians to meet patient educational needs.
Key Duties:
- Designs protocols supporting breastfeeding for lactating mothers.
- Provides prenatal education on breastfeeding benefits.
- Conducts breastfeeding classes and private consultations.
- Manages loaner pump programs and resource centers.
- Maintains relationships with local support groups.
- Follows up with first-time and special care mothers.
- Engages in outreach programs and promotes lactation philosophy among staff.
- Provides staff development and participates in performance improvement and research projects.
- Educates staff and physicians on lactation techniques.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years RN experience.
- Certifications: Certified Breastfeeding Counselor / Lactation Counselor; IBCLC preferred (must obtain within 2 years).
- Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 100 pounds.
- Strong collaborative, educational, and communication skills.
