Registered Nurse – Labor and Birth

Role: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, effective, and patient-centered care in a collaborative, faith-based labor and birth unit, utilizing the nursing process and maintaining professional accountability.

Responsibilities: Evaluate care effectiveness, coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, uphold patient rights and confidentiality, and deliver high-quality care across the full continuum for mothers and newborns, from low-risk to high-risk cases. The RN ensures safe staffing ratios and adheres to Mercy’s mission and standards.

Qualifications & Skills: Requires graduation from a nursing program (associate’s, diploma, or BSN), current RN licensure, and Basic Life Support certification. Additional certifications like ACLS, NRP, PALS, or unit-specific credentials may be required. Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, stand, walk, and perform various physical tasks is necessary.

Key Duties: Assess patient needs, administer care, collaborate with team members, and ensure compliance with clinical standards. The role emphasizes compassion, clinical expertise, and commitment to excellence in maternity care.
