Registered Nurse Coordinator – Bone Marrow Transplant

Role Overview: The position involves coordinating comprehensive care for bone marrow transplant patients in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and transplant physicians. The role includes establishing rapport with patients, families, and referring providers, maintaining accurate patient records, and reporting to the Bone Marrow Transplant Registry. It requires ensuring quality program compliance, reviewing policies, and participating in budget development. Additionally, the role advocates for patients with insurance providers and provides education and mentorship to staff. Responsibilities also include quality improvement documentation and supporting the transplant program’s standards.

  • Qualifications & Skills: A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) and at least 2 years of RN experience are required. Certifications in Chemotherapy and Biotherapy must be obtained within three months of hire, followed by Oncology Nursing Certification. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills are essential for effective team engagement and patient advocacy.
  • Key Duties: Managing all aspects of the bone marrow transplant process, maintaining detailed patient data, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, participating in policy review, and contributing to program budgeting. The role involves educating care providers, mentoring team members, and completing all quality assurance documentation.
  • Work Environment & Education: The work is performed primarily in a clinical setting. Candidates should have completed specialty nursing training and possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. The role emphasizes a culture of excellence, safety, innovation, and collaborative care.
