Role Overview: MRI Technologists perform diagnostic imaging using magnetic resonance technology, independently executing or assisting with MRI procedures. They prepare patients, ensure proper identification, and optimize imaging protocols to maximize safety and image quality while adhering to ALARA principles. They evaluate images for accuracy, verify data transfer, and assist with magnetic resonance interventional procedures. Additionally, they educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, apply safety principles to minimize risks, and participate in quality improvement activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Obtaining correct orders, patient preparation, and documentation of clinical history.
- Administering medications and evaluating image quality.
- Applying safety protocols and assisting with MRI procedures.
- Selecting appropriate pulse sequences and ensuring data integrity.
- Contributing to departmental priorities and quality initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills: Must hold certification by ARRT (MRI), ARMRIT, or NMTCB with MRI endorsement. Education includes graduation from a radiologic technology training program; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. The role requires proficiency in routine and complex MRI duties, safety awareness, and the ability to educate others.
