Role Overview: MRI Technologists perform diagnostic, therapeutic, or research magnetic resonance imaging using radiofrequencies within a magnetic field. They acquire, analyze, and interpret imaging data to assist licensed practitioners, ensuring patient safety and optimal imaging quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct orders, identify and prepare patients, and document clinical history while maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to ensure safety.
- Prepare and administer medications through vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate images for accuracy, proper positioning, and technical quality; ensure proper data storage and transfer.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers, and assist with MRI safety protocols and interventional procedures.
- Select pulse sequences based on protocols and data acquisition needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification from ARRT, NMTCB, or ARMRIT required; new graduates must obtain certification prior to employment.
- Must have graduated from a radiologic technology training program; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of MRI safety standards and procedures.
