Role Overview: Radiologic Technologists administer ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform a full range of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, analyze data for diagnosis, and assist licensed practitioners. They independently conduct procedures, prepare and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure, ensuring compliance with laws and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain correct order, identify patients, prepare them for exams, and document clinical history securely.
- Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles to ensure patient safety.
- Prepare, administer, and document medications through vascular access as prescribed.
- Evaluate images for quality, proper positioning, and ensure proper data storage or transfer.
- Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
- Assist with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures, including outside of the Radiology Department.
Qualifications & Skills: Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program; ARRT-R certification within six months for new graduates; ability to advance to Level 2 within 24 months if hired after a specified date; strong understanding of radiologic procedures, patient safety, and documentation.
