The Attending Psychiatrist for Homeless Services provides outreach-based psychiatric evaluation, treatment, and systems coordination for individuals experiencing homelessness with serious mental illness.
Works in shelters, Safe Havens, streets, and community settings to engage clients and ensure continuity of care. Conducts assessments, diagnoses, and initiates treatment for homeless individuals, supporting individualized care plans. Advises shelter and outreach staff, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and participates in case conferences. Assists with eligibility determinations for mental health services and collaborates with related agencies. Supervises psychiatric residents, provides education, and contributes to program development. Qualifications include a medical license, board eligibility in Psychiatry, and experience with homelessness and mental illness.
