Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessments in complex clinical situations, primarily in critical care settings. They independently manage ventilators, perform airway procedures, analyze arterial blood gases, and educate patients and staff. The role emphasizes delivering quality, safe, and evidence-based care while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer aerosolized medications, manage ventilators, and perform airway procedures.
- Conduct patient assessments and collaborate with healthcare team members in planning care.
- Educate patients, mentor new employees, and support staff development.
- Ensure safety through accurate documentation, high-quality environment, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and promote evidence-based practices.
- Assist in invasive and non-invasive procedures and pulmonary diagnostics as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred).
- Certifications: NBRC-RRT, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, and ACLS or equivalent.
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, assessment, and computer skills.
