Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment in complex clinical situations, primarily in critical care settings. They deliver evidence-based interventions, manage ventilators, perform airway procedures, and interpret arterial blood gases. The role includes patient and family education, mentoring new staff and students, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure quality, safe, and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering patient-centered respiratory therapy and assessments
- Managing ventilators, airway care, and respiratory procedures
- Educating patients, families, and staff
- Ensuring accurate documentation, medication safety, and compliance with policies
- Participating in quality improvement and evidence-based practices
- Supporting invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
- Certifications: NBRC-RRT, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, and ACLS
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills
- Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, and provide compassionate care
