Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, medication administration, and patient assessment primarily in critical care settings. Key responsibilities include ventilator management, airway procedures, arterial blood gas analysis, patient education, and supporting staff development. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality, safe, and evidence-based care, collaborating with healthcare teams, and promoting a positive environment.
Core Duties:
- Perform patient assessments and plan care in collaboration with healthcare teams
- Administer aerosolized medications, oxygen, and medical gases
- Manage ventilators, including weaning and waveform interpretation
- Conduct airway management procedures such as intubation and tracheostomy care
- Educate patients and mentor new staff, students, and peers
- Participate in invasive and non-invasive procedures and pulmonary diagnostics
- Ensure safety and quality through accurate documentation and adherence to protocols
- Support performance improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
- Required certifications: NBRC-RRT, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, and ACLS
- 0-2 years clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with computer systems and databases
