Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, including medication administration, ventilator management, airway procedures, and patient assessment in critical care settings. They deliver patient education, collaborate with healthcare teams, and mentor new staff and students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and plan care in coordination with the healthcare team
- Administer aerosolized medications, manage ventilators, perform airway procedures, and analyze arterial blood gases
- Educate patients and support staff, including precepting new employees and students
- Ensure high standards of safety, quality, and compliance with policies
- Promote performance improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
- NBRC-RRT, RCP, BLS, and ACLS certifications required
- 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and computer skills
- Ability to work independently in complex patient situations and foster teamwork
