Role: Implements physical therapy treatment programs under supervision, serving patients from neonatal to geriatric. Responsible for conducting exercise and treatment sessions, documenting patient progress, and assisting with discharge planning. Engages in patient and team communication, promotes evidence-based practices, and supports student training by completing assessments and providing mentorship.
Key duties include:
- Self-assessing and seeking ongoing professional development; sharing new knowledge with colleagues.
- Effective communication with interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families.
- Logical questioning, problem recognition, data analysis, and solution implementation.
- Assisting in data collection, monitoring patient progress, and ensuring safety during therapy.
- Documenting treatment, supporting discharge processes, and instructing patients on adaptive equipment use.
- Participating in evidence-based activities and fostering team collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited program.
- Preferred: one year of experience as a Physical Therapy Aide or Assistant.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant with active, good standing in the licensing authority.
- Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of start, and ongoing licensure maintenance.
