Summary of Physical Therapist Role
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting initial and ongoing assessments to evaluate mobility, strength, and function.
- Administering, evaluating, and interpreting tests to set functional goals and outcomes.
- Providing written evaluations and plans of care outlining therapy needs, goals, and progress.
- Delivering physical therapy services in accordance with physician orders.
- Maintaining accurate documentation, modifying treatment plans, and planning discharges.
- Collaborating with healthcare team members, educating patients and caregivers on home exercise plans.
- Supervising personnel such as PTA, OTA, and HHA as applicable.
- Completing assessments like OASIS where permitted by regulation.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current, unrestricted state license as a Physical Therapist.
- Valid CPR, driver’s license, and automobile insurance.
Key duties include:
- Providing high-quality, patient-centered therapy services.
- Effective documentation to ensure compliance and minimize denials.
- Collaborating with healthcare teams and educating patients and families.
- Supervising therapy personnel as needed.
