Role Overview: A physical therapist assesses, plans, and implements rehabilitative programs to improve mobility, reduce pain, and prevent deformities in patients with injuries or diseases. They provide care across the full continuum, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Treatment Planning and Care: Implements treatment plans, selects appropriate activities, revises goals with patient input, and provides education, discharge instructions, and referrals.
- Patient Assessment: Collaborates with physicians to establish and evaluate treatment programs, goals, and discharge plans tailored to patient needs and family involvement.
- Documentation: Records evaluations, treatment sessions, and discharge information according to guidelines.
- Professional Conduct: Maintains ethical standards, confidentiality, punctuality, and effective communication. Participates in meetings and process improvements.
- Customer Service & Teamwork: Applies AIDET principles, fosters a positive environment, demonstrates respect, and encourages collaboration.
- Professional Development: Completes required education, competencies, and training, including orientation for new staff, and complies with policies.
Qualifications & Skills: Must hold a Doctorate, Master’s, or Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy; possess valid PT and BLS certifications; demonstrate effective communication, customer service focus, teamwork, and basic computer skills.
