Physical Therapist Assistant, Home Care, Bronx

Overview

Provides physical therapy interventions to patients under supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), assisting in monitoring patient progress and documenting care. Works within NY State Education law and scope of practice for a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow established treatment plans, modify procedures as needed, and educate patients and caregivers.
  • Assist in patient assessment, monitor progress, and communicate with supervising PT.
  • Manage caseload, deliver direct therapy services, and participate in team meetings and training.
  • Travel to patient homes or facilities, providing care in diverse environments.
  • Support patients with activities of daily living, therapeutic interventions, and use of medical equipment.
  • Maintain documentation, follow infection control procedures, and perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • New York State Certification as a PTA and Associate’s Degree from an approved program.
  • Minimum of two years clinical patient care experience.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required; bilingual skills preferred.
  • Basic PC skills and ability to handle equipment and supplies.
