Overview
Provides physical therapy interventions to patients under supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), assisting in monitoring patient progress and documenting care. Works within NY State Education law and scope of practice for a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
Key Responsibilities
- Follow established treatment plans, modify procedures as needed, and educate patients and caregivers.
- Assist in patient assessment, monitor progress, and communicate with supervising PT.
- Manage caseload, deliver direct therapy services, and participate in team meetings and training.
- Travel to patient homes or facilities, providing care in diverse environments.
- Support patients with activities of daily living, therapeutic interventions, and use of medical equipment.
- Maintain documentation, follow infection control procedures, and perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- New York State Certification as a PTA and Associate’s Degree from an approved program.
- Minimum of two years clinical patient care experience.
- Valid driver’s license may be required; bilingual skills preferred.
- Basic PC skills and ability to handle equipment and supplies.
