Role Overview:
This position involves providing direct patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment, focusing on cardiothoracic procedures including minimally invasive surgeries, heart transplants, thoracic, robotic, lung transplants, and vascular surgeries. The role requires assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while promoting safety, quality, and family-centered care. Responsibilities include educating patients and families, developing individualized care plans, and collaborating with the healthcare team. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for teamwork, safety, and continuous learning, with a commitment to the orientation process and adherence to hospital values of kindness, safety, excellence, respect, and teamwork.
Qualifications & Skills:
- RN license with a Nursing Diploma/Associate’s degree; BSN preferred.
- No prior experience required; 2+ years preferred for advanced roles.
- Ability to work in a safety-sensitive environment with alertness and professionalism.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn scrubbing and circulating roles.
Key Duties:
- Promote patient safety and educate patients/families on post-treatment care.
- Develop and document care plans, ensuring effective communication across care teams.
- Assess physical, psychosocial, emotional, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients.
- Participate in professional development and adhere to regulatory standards.
