Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Role Overview: The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to alleviate pain, restore function, evaluate, and prevent disability resulting from disease, injury, or loss of a body part.

Key Responsibilities: Planning and implementing individualized therapy programs using exercise, manual therapy, heat, water, light, and electrical modalities. Conducting diagnostic and functional tests for muscles, nerves, and joints, guiding patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, and functional training. Managing equipment like ultrasound, diathermy, whirlpools, and mobility devices. Performing patient evaluations, monitoring progress, and documenting outcomes. May supervise aides and assist in training medical staff and students.

Qualifications & Skills: A Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) is required after certain dates; a license to practice as a Physical Therapist is mandatory. Certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS), with preferred credentials in Pelvic Health. Experience requirements are specified in terms of years and type.

Additional Requirements: Must obtain specific certifications within ninety days, including licensure and specialized certifications in pelvic health.

Skills Needed: Strong knowledge of physical therapy techniques, patient care, equipment handling, and team collaboration. Excellent assessment, documentation, and patient instruction skills.
