Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Role Overview: The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to alleviate pain, restore function, and prevent disability after disease, injury, or loss of a body part.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and conducting therapy programs using exercise, massage, manual therapy, heat, water, light, and electrical modalities.
  • Performing diagnostic and functional tests on muscles, nerves, and joints.
  • Guiding patients in active and passive exercises, muscle reeducation, gait, and functional training with equipment.
  • Using devices such as ultrasound, diathermy, whirlpools, and contrast baths.
  • Treating wound patients and instructing on the use of assistive devices like wheelchairs, braces, and prosthetics.
  • Performing patient evaluations, monitoring progress, and documenting outcomes.
  • Supervising support staff and participating in training medical and nursing students in therapy techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma required; a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) is required after a specified date.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in physical therapy, with details on years and type of experience preferred or required.
  • Certifications & Licenses: Licensed Physical Therapist required, with certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), pelvic health (preferred), and additional credentials as specified.

Key Skills: Knowledge of therapy techniques, equipment operation, patient assessment, documentation, and team collaboration. Certification in pelvic health and additional licenses are advantageous.
