Orthopedic Physical Therapist

Role Overview: The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to relieve pain, restore function, evaluate, and prevent disability resulting from disease, injury, or loss of a body part.
Key Responsibilities: Plan and conduct therapy programs using physical means such as exercise, massage, manual therapy, heat, water, light, and electricity. Perform diagnostic and functional tests on muscles, nerves, and joints. Guide patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education, gait, and functional training. Utilize equipment like ultrasound, diathermy, whirlpools, and contrast baths. Manage wound care, instruct on device use, and promote postural control and therapeutic exercises. Document patient progress and may supervise assistants, aides, or volunteers. Conduct training for students and staff in physical therapy techniques.
Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Requires a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) after 2015, or a license as a Physical Therapist.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in physical therapy, with specific years and types of experience preferred.
  • Certifications: Must hold or obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days. Additional certifications in pelvic health are preferred.
  • Licenses: Must be a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of therapy techniques, equipment operation, patient assessment, and documentation. Ability to instruct and supervise patients and team members.
