Occupational Therapy Assistant

Overview

Provides occupational therapy interventions to designated patients under supervision, assisting in monitoring patient progress and following up with the supervising OT. Implements prescribed therapy services, performs delegated procedures, and participates in patient and family education. Reports patient performance and responses regularly and may modify treatment procedures in accordance with the plan of care and practice standards. Documents and maintains service records, ensuring timely submissions. Communicates effectively with team members to ensure coordinated care and participates in in-service programs, QA reviews, and interdisciplinary meetings. Ensures OT supervision during initial visits and periodic follow-ups, and assists in scheduling supervisory visits as needed. Engages in professional development, participates in special projects, and performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Valid occupational therapy assistant certification and registration from NYS
  • Associate’s Degree from a NYS-approved program
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience preferred
  • Basic PC skills preferred
  • Possibility of bilingual skills and a valid driver’s license based on operational needs
