Role Overview:
The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides direct rehabilitation care in occupational therapy within a skilled nursing facility setting. They assess, plan, and implement therapy programs to help patients achieve functional goals, improve quality of life, and recover from surgeries, illnesses, or injuries. The OT collaborates with an interdisciplinary team, supervises support staff, and maintains accurate documentation using therapy software. They foster a patient-centered environment, ensuring safety, confidentiality, and adherence to laws and policies. The role involves community engagement, professional development, and demonstrating strong communication and organizational skills.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Certification by NBCOT and valid state licensure
- Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program (BSOT or MSOT)
- CPR certification (obtained upon hire or during orientation)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and good body mechanics
- Ability to make independent decisions and work collaboratively
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, assess, and modify individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and functional goals
- Supervise and evaluate OT assistants and support staff
